Please answer a few questions to help us determine your eligibility.

How Are SSDI Payment Dates Determined?

Your SSDI payment dates are based on your date of birth, not your state of residence. Here is the general payment schedule:

  • If your birthday falls on the 1st-10th: Payment is made on the second Wednesday of each month
  • If your birthday falls on the 11th-20th: Payment is made on the third Wednesday of each month
  • If your birthday falls on the 21st-31st: Payment is made on the fourth Wednesday of each month

Exceptions to the Schedule

If you started receiving SSDI benefits before May 1997, your payments are deposited on the 3rd of each month, regardless of your birthday.

How to Check Your SSDI Payment Dates

1. Check Online Using Your SSA Account

The easiest way to check your payment dates is by creating a my Social Security account at www.ssa.gov/myaccount. With this account, you can:

  • View your upcoming payment dates
  • Check your payment history
  • See any notices or updates related to your benefits

2. Review the SSA Payment Calendar

The SSA publishes an annual payment schedule on its website. You can:

  • Visit www.ssa.gov and search for “payment schedule”
  • Download the PDF calendar to keep track of payment dates throughout the year

3. Check Your Bank Account

If you have direct deposit set up, check your bank account on your scheduled payment date. SSDI payments are typically deposited early in the morning. If your payment isn’t there by noon, check again later in the day, as deposit times can vary by bank.

4. Call the SSA

If you can’t check online or have concerns about your payment, you can call the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) to:

  • Confirm your payment date
  • Report any missing payments
  • Resolve issues related to your benefits

Representatives are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

What to Do if Your Payment is Late

If your SSDI payment has not arrived:

  • Wait at least three business days before reporting it as missing
  • Contact your bank to confirm there are no issues with your account
  • Call the SSA to report the missing payment and request assistance
